Refunds and voids

A void cancels a payment before it settles. A refund sends money back after it has. You'll be offered whichever one applies.

Step 01

Find the payment

In Chrome, open the side panel's Payments tab. On the merchant portal, use Payments, or Open payment from an invoice.

Step 02

Void, if it hasn't settled

A void reverses the whole charge. It's offered while the payment hasn't settled, and it can't be undone.

Step 03

Refund, once it has

Refund all of it or part, up to what's left. You'll confirm the amount and the customer before it's sent.

  • Card refunds usually reach the customer in 5 to 10 business days.
  • The customer gets a refund email.
  • If a refund doesn't confirm right away, trying again never refunds twice.

Step 04

Bank payments

While a bank payment hasn't gone to the bank yet, you can cancel it. Once it has settled, refund it in full or part, back to the same account.

  • A bank refund can't be canceled once it's sent.
  • A bank payment that was returned or failed has nothing to refund.

Step 05

Update your software

If the payment was already recorded on an invoice, Needs a look on the merchant portal tells you what to change in your software.

Refunds and voids still work while payments are paused on your account.
