Saved cards and payment plans
Saved cards, payment plans and recurring charges all start in SwitchKeep Pay, with the customer's agreement on record. You manage them from the side panel and the merchant portal.
Step 01
Save a card
In the secure card window, tick Save this card for the customer. The consent wording is shown, and you confirm the customer agreed before it's saved.
- Saved cards are listed on the Card tab next time, and are never picked for you.
- The merchant portal's Saved cards page lists them: the card type, last four digits, whether it has expired, and which plans it pays.
- Need a saved card removed? Your setup partner can remove it. A card that pays a payment plan or recurring charge can't be removed until that's canceled.
Step 02
Set up a payment plan
From an invoice, use the Payment plan tab, if plans are on for your account. Review the terms and the authorization with the customer before you confirm.
- Customers get an email 3 days before each monthly charge, or 2 days before each charge every two weeks.
Step 03
Set up a recurring charge
In the side panel, open Plans & recurring and review the authorization with the customer before you confirm.
Step 04
Pause, resume or cancel
On the merchant portal, Payment plans & recurring charges shows each one's next charge and what's left.
- Pausing stops all charges until you resume, and moves the remaining payments back.
- Cancel has a confirm step.
- For a new card on a plan, email the customer a link to their plan page. It works for 30 days.
Step 05
Cards saved in your old payments
Cards saved in your software's built-in payments stay with that processor. Each customer saves their card again the next time they pay. Leave the old payments connected until everyone has moved.
